Step 1 — Install the extension

Install the latest Doux Parenting extension in Chrome. Once installed, you’ll be able to open the popup while watching YouTube and view real-time safety guidance.

Replace the install button link with your Chrome Web Store listing when it’s live.

Step 2 — Pin the extension in Chrome

Click the Chrome puzzle icon in the toolbar and pin Doux Parenting so it’s always easy to open while browsing YouTube.

Step 3 — Open YouTube and begin scanning

Open any YouTube video, Short, or livestream, then click the Doux icon to view the current analysis.

Regular videos use transcript-first analysis when available
Shorts use transcript or captions first, then audio fallback if needed
Livestreams use sampled audio and live-context scanning
The popup shows concern level, safety score, age guidance, and risk factors

Step 5 — Start with your own concern level

Doux alerts are based on the concern level you choose. A lower level means you want to know about more videos. A higher level means you only want alerts for stronger concerns.

8 — Only stronger concerns

Tip: If the extension popup opens to the welcome or login view first, sign in, then tap Start Protection on YouTube. You can always return to your dashboard later from the popup settings button.
