How Doux Parenting Works

Doux Parenting helps parents stay aware of the type of content their child is watching on YouTube. It reviews transcripts, audio samples, and context signals to identify possible concerns and send alerts based on the settings you choose.

Concern Level (1–10)

1–3: Lower concern
4–6: Moderate concern
7–10: Higher concern

Concern level helps Doux estimate how strong the detected concern signals are in a video. These may include profanity, bullying, sexual humor, violence, mature topics, or other issues a parent may want to review.

Parents choose the concern level that triggers alerts.

This means alerts are based on your chosen concern level, not a one-size-fits-all setting.

Safety Score

Safety score runs from 0–100. Higher scores generally indicate safer content based on the signals available in the transcript, audio sample, and metadata.

Safety score gives parents a quick sense of how safe the content appears overall.

Age Guidance

Age guidance is a practical estimate based on the language, themes, and context detected in the content.

Parents can create a child profile so alerts can also be triggered when a video appears to exceed the child’s age range.

Risk Factors

Doux may flag content for issues such as:

These flags help explain why a video may have crossed your chosen concern level.

How Alerts Work

Doux can send an alert when:

Alerts are designed to help parents review content faster. An alert does not automatically mean the content is harmful. It means the content crossed the review level you selected.

Example Parent Alert

When a video crosses your chosen concern level, you receive a simple alert like this:

This video matched your alert setting.

Kai is currently watching content over your desired concern level. This does not automatically mean the content is harmful.

Your concern level: 3/10

Age guidance: 12+

Safety score: 64/100

Video title: Minecraft But We Can’t Stop Laughing

Risk factors detected:

  • Profanity
  • Bullying humor

How Livestreams Work

Livestreams are not monitored continuously. Doux uses delayed audio samples to detect early concern signals and help parents stay informed while the stream is active.

Because livestream content changes over time, parents should still stay involved and review content when needed.
